Our School is guided by the Montessori principles and philosphy. We provide an environment which supports each individual child to make independent choices and develop self-dicipline. Our aim is to produce happy, self-confident children filled with a desire to learn and a love of learning that will carry and support them all the way through their school years and into adulthood.
We provide a wide range of experiences which, in a gentle, sympathetic and encouraging way stimulates each child’s innate love of learning and discovery. Each child is treated with respect and given the freedom to learn within the limits of a carefully structured environment which allows the child to develop naturally.
"Cobham Montessori is a fantastic place for children to learn and grow. The environment allows the children to explore not only academic and social skills but also emotional development. The range of activities and working materials is truly excellent. The teachers care passionately about what they do! This is reflected in how happy our children are to go to school every day!"

We have 2 connected communities in our school - one is our Infant Community (aged 2-3ish) and the other is our Children's House where children are aged around 3-6. We are in the process of applying to become a registered school which will enable us to offer a Montessori education up to age 11.
New children start in whichever group is best suited to their stage of development which we discuss with parents after we have met the child. In supporting each child's natural development we are led by Montessori principles and practice, following the training and guidance of the Association Montessori Internationale.
Additionally, children have access to a large, secure outdoor area. There is an "all-weather" play area, a small kitchen garden where the children grow fruits and vegetables, as well as a sizeable lawned garden where we have a mud kitchen, a small pond and various climbing equipment. Children are encouraged to work outside if they wish.
We operate as a term-time Montessori School. Our morning sessions run from 9am-12.15pm in both the Infant Community and the Children's House.
Children may attend for lunch between 12.15pm and 1.15pm. Children eat their packed lunch together as a community and it is an excellent opportunity to interact socially and build relationships.
The afternoon session is for the Children's House only, and runs until 3.15pm. Specialist external teachers provide Yoganory on Tuesdays and Dance on Wednesdays; these classes are included in our fees.
Children may stay for the full day only when they are ready to transition into the Children's House.
Please note: the Infant Community and the Childrens House close at 1.15pm on a Friday.
