Cobham Montessori School is both Cobham’s very first nursery school and its first Montessori School, being established in 1962. We are registered with OfSTED as a Nursery Education Provider, OfSTED registration No. EY461173.
We are registered to care for up to 40 children at any one time. We are regulated and inspected by OfSTED and meet the National Standards for Childcare.
The pre-school years are an exceptional time for a child when good foundations can be laid to maximise the child’s future learning potential. The aim of the School is to produce happy, self-confident children filled with a desire to learn and a love of learning that will carry and support them all the way through their school years and into adulthood. Much of the work concentrates on developing the child’s learning in accordance with government guidelines.
The school however remains dedicated to the Montessori principles and philosophy and all the curriculum is based upon the Montessori curriculum for Early Years children. We provide a wide range of experiences which, in a gentle, sympathetic and encouraging way stimulates each child’s innate love of learning and discovery. Each child is treated with respect and given the freedom to learn within the limits of a carefully structured environment which allows the child to develop naturally.
Parents have a great role to play in their children’s education and their input is encouraged at the school. Staff are always available to talk to parents at the school regarding progress and social development of their children.
Children at the school take completed work home each day in their ‘work wallets’ and there is a language development and reading scheme in place.
Those who are ready and have completed the pre-reading skills successfully are encouraged to learn to read and write and are given every opportunity to progress in these very important skills.
Care and hard work have been invested to establish a wonderful caring Montessori environment for children, parents and staff.
